Fred J Miller Inc. Summer Clinics
From 2014–2019, I served as a Summer Clinic Staff Member with Fred J. Miller Inc., traveling nationally for five consecutive summers to support leadership development within the marching arts. Each summer, I staffed approximately six leadership camps across the country, working with a wide range of programs, backgrounds, and leadership structures.
These camps primarily served Drum Majors, Student Leaders, and Color Guard performers, with additional participants from areas such as twirling, dance, and
musicianship. As a Drum Major and Student Leader instructor, my teaching responsibilities included:
Conducting technique and performance application
Musicianship instruction
Leadership skill development, facilitating workshops focused on real‑world leadership challenges such as providing effective feedback, navigating difficult conversations, and leading with confidence and empathy
Beyond classroom instruction, camps emphasized experiential learning. I regularly led and supported:
Leadership activities and simulations followed by guided group discussions and reflection circles
Electives focused on real‑world application for drum majors and student leaders
Collaborative peer discussions where leaders could openly discuss challenges they faced in their home programs
One‑on‑one help sessions to provide individualized coaching and skill refinement
In addition to my frontline instructional role, I frequently partnered with Color Guard staff to lead full‑camp sessions, including team talks, team‑building activities, motivational sessions, nightly performances, daily warm‑ups, and awards ceremonies. This required close collaboration, adaptability, and alignment across instructional teams to create a cohesive and impactful camp experience.
Beginning in 2016, I took on expanded leadership responsibilities within the staff, contributing to clinic content development and instructional planning. This shift allowed me to help shape curriculum, refine teaching approaches, and support newer staff members—all while continuing to teach and mentor students directly.
Working with Fred J. Miller Inc. was a formative experience that strengthened my abilities as an educator, collaborator, and leader. It provided invaluable opportunities to build relationships with fellow instructors, exchange ideas across disciplines, and operate in a fast‑paced environment that demanded both self‑reflection and real‑time feedback—skills that continue to inform my work today.
CoverMyMeds | McKesson
My professional leadership journey at CoverMyMeds has been defined by steady growth, people‑centered leadership, and a deep commitment to building strong teams and sustainable systems. Since joining the organization in 2019, I have progressed through multiple leadership roles, each expanding my scope of impact and reinforcing my passion for developing others.
I began my career at CoverMyMeds as an Account Coordinator, where I quickly stood out for my curiosity, adaptability, and ability to build trust with both teammates and stakeholders. By December 2020, I was promoted to Supervisor, leading a team of eight Account Coordinators. In this role, my focus centered on coaching, accountability, and culture. Through intentional one‑on‑one conversations, structured feedback, and individualized development plans, I supported several team members who were struggling to not only improve performance but ultimately earn promotions—outcomes I consider among my most meaningful achievements.
In 2021, I transitioned into an Operations Lead role, initially supporting the Account Specialist team and later expanding to oversee multiple teams through a period of organizational change. Stepping into an unfamiliar area of the business, I quickly built foundational knowledge and began identifying opportunities for improvement. Within my first 60 days, I led initiatives to refine workflows, forecast volume needs, align staffing models, and improve the hiring process. Throughout this time, I remained deeply committed to people leadership—prioritizing weekly coaching conversations, performance development, and leader support alongside larger strategic projects.
As the organization evolved, I took on broader leadership responsibilities, supporting multiple supervisors across both internal and contracted teams. During this period, I helped lead significant operational changes, including the consolidation of roles and teams, development of new scheduling and structure models, and establishment of employee engagement efforts. These initiatives required collaboration, clear communication, and trust‑building across departments—skills directly transferable to any team‑based, education‑focused environment.
Today, I serve as a Manager for the Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) team, supporting territories across the eastern United States. This team partners directly with healthcare providers to remove barriers in the prior authorization process, ultimately helping patients gain access to critical medications. In my role, I oversee daily operations, analyze performance data to identify strengths and growth opportunities, conduct qualitative case reviews, and coach team members through continuous improvement.
A key component of my leadership is being present in the field. I travel quarterly to ride along with each team member, observing their work firsthand, providing feedback, and reinforcing expectations through real‑time coaching—much like instructional observation in an educational setting. I also lead regular team meetings, act as a liaison between frontline staff and senior leadership, troubleshoot challenges, and intentionally cultivate a strong, supportive team culture.
Beyond day‑to‑day management, I have taken initiative to strengthen the FRM program through long‑term development efforts. These include building a centralized resource center, developing onsite trainings and workshops, and supporting the transition away from sunsetting programs while launching new ones. Across every role, my leadership philosophy has remained consistent: invest in people, build trust through empathy and follow through, and create environments where teams can succeed!
